Hosting the Perfect Holiday Party with Música Tequila
Hosting the perfect holiday party is more of an art than most people give it credit for.
A great holiday party is unforgettable. You’ll talk about it for years, and you’ll probably judge other parties on your great experiences. There’s no need to feel pressure if you’re planning one, however; we’ve got you covered.

Crafting the Perfect Holiday Party Menu
There are two things you need to decide on if you’re creating a menu. What are people drinking and what are they eating? At Música, we like to start with the drinks and then choose what’s going with them after, but with some practice, you can build it starting with either.
Choosing Your Holiday Drinks
Holiday drinks can be as complicated as you would like them to be. You can serve Música tequila by itself with some limes for Cinco de Mayo, or you can spike a hot apple cider with Música’s aged añejo tequila. While you have as much range as you would like when deciding how to dress your tequila, we have a few ideas for you to start with.
Blood Orange Tequila Old Fashioned: While you can definitely over-dress a cocktail for the holidays, we went with a simple and sophisticated twist on the classic old fashioned for a Halloween cocktail. Pour 2 ounces of Música añejo tequila, add 2-4 dashes of orange bitters, a pinch of sugar, and stir. Garnish with a large blood orange slice.
If you have large ice cubes, you can place a circular orange slice into your glass first, then place an ice cube on top of the slice and pour in your cocktail. This will magnify the orange through the ice.
Mistletoe Margarita: A Mistletoe Margarita is a cocktail you can fully dress up to match your winter wonderland during the holiday season. This cocktail contains 2 ounces of Música tequila blanco, 2 ounces of white cranberry juice, and 2 ounces of lime juice. Salt the rim of your glass, fill with ice, and pour in your cocktail. Garnish with fresh cranberries and mint to add red and green into the mix.
Thanksgiving Tequila Manhattan: If you don’t have a lot of prep time, you can start with 2 ounces of Música reposado tequila, and add 1 ounce of sweet vermouth and 4 dashes of apple spice bitters. For a version that’s a little more dressed up, grab a mason jar and fill it with your tequila. Add red apple slices and cinnamon sticks, and let it soak together in your fridge for three days before serving. This will give your entire manhattan an apple spice kick for a seasonal twist.
Food
Now that your drinks are all squared away, you’ll want to pick food to pair with them. The type of food will depend on how involved you want to be. You could cook and bake for everybody, or you could buy items you just need to lay out.
You can also of course do both! You might want to start with foods that traditionally go with tequila, then add in seasonal foods to better align with the party. For example, cheeses are a very fun pairing with tequila, bringing out more of the earthy and savory notes, but cheese by itself doesn’t scream “Thanksgiving” to most people. Instead, picking your seasonal drinks, pairing it with foods that traditionally go well with tequila, then adding in food that goes well with the holiday can help thematically align your menu.
Here are a couple versatile options for inspiration:
Charcuterie Board: We’ve all come to know and love them, but the reason is you can place anything you want on a beautiful board and decorate however you want to. While cheeses, breads, and meats make for incredible tequila pairings, you could always swap them out for Halloween candy or a thanksgiving spread. You could even dress up a board with meats, cabbage, and Irish soda bread for St. Patrick’s Day.
Holiday Popcorn: Popcorn is an unlikely choice for many, but you can really throw whatever seasonal spices you want to on a popcorn and toss it with butter for a fantastic pairing dish. You can load it up with pumpkin spice, add candy and sweets for Halloween, cilantro and lime for a Cinco de Mayo, or anything else creative you can come up with.
Set Up Your Tasting Station
Your tasting station is the next part you get to customize! While you can definitely add all of the food and drinks to one table, you might try a dedicated station just for drinks if you want to make things a little more customizable.
At your station, instead of including one type of cocktail, you can center it around Música tequila itself. Include as many different types of tequila as you can, then add in various mixers or garnishes that match the holiday, and let people go to work.
It might be helpful to have a glass to measure the tequila with, called a “jigger,” and have one other liquid to mix with. For guests not as comfortable with making drinks, a few directions might help smooth over any anxiety people have about their drink not being good. While many drinks call to be shaken, you can also just have a stirring glass or stir the drinks straight into glasses to avoid any additional or complicated steps.
With drinks in order, you can build out your tasting station as much as you like, with seasonal tablecloths, small snacks, candles, or other festive decorations.
Inspired Playlists
Your playlist is the final thing you need to throw the perfect holiday party.
Music is especially important to us at Música Tequila, and we want to make it as easy as possible to craft an amazing playlist for your party. What you want to do here is aim for a natural fusion between festive songs and songs to match the vibe you’re going for.
For us, that mix is around 60/40 or songs everyone knows for the holiday and your favorite Latin or indie tunes to mix up the night and tie together the food and drink you’ve worked so hard on. By creating this blend in music, you’ll also blend together the vibrancy of Música tequila and the familiar flavors and sounds of everyone’s favorite holidays.
